Re: York Region Results
not really if you think about all the studs they get year after year from st davids. They also play in the weakest region of the GTA. They wouldn't be 4 peating if they were in Toronto. Having Andrew Wiggins show up at your school also helps.
with that said, a 4 peat is a 4 peat

Tremendous atmosphere at Brother Andre last night! Standing room only crowd!
Lotsa buzz and Pangos and Denison were giving Vaughan the business in the
first half...but then things changed in the 2nd half when the Vaughan coaches
stuck Wiggins on Pangos which served to slow down the sharp-shooting future
Gonzaga Zag. Great game...York Region was abuzz which was good to see.
I will be posting a full recap soon at www.crownmagonline.com.
Check the site now for recaps of other playoff tilts in various rebounds.

Let's face it is a great program. They have definitely benefitted from all of the Wiggins brothers. I believe the older brothers were part of at least one championship if not two. I am not sure what is meant by "show up at your school" as his brothers attended prior to him.
Maybe, they would not have 4 peated in another area, but we can't change where there are and should not diminish what they have accomplished. Their results at OFSAA over the last four years are quite impressive.

Re: York Region Results
why does everyone sh*t on York region? Vaughan has had a good program for 4 years with great players coming through it. Who in Toronto would have dethroned their run? The same teams they played and competed with at OFSAA. 3 years - and they made it to the semi's every year. Eastern Commerce won city's how many years in a row. D'youville has going for a 3 peat. Loyola has a 3 peat. So why sh*t on Vaughan? Denison has had a good run in the past 3 years as well. Last year at OFSAA they lost to the eventual champions. Elite 8 teams like Woodbridge, St. Theresa, Williams, Jean de Brebeuf, and Maple all competed in tournaments outside of York Region and had success against almost every single GTA region. Most importantly players have to go to school where they live like in Peel. It's not a secret to a anyone why that is the most competitive league. So there are 2 super powers and other minor players but that doesn't mean that the league sucks or is weak. Top programs are just hard to come by when you have to make do with what you have, no transfers to boost your bench or the big to solidify your front line. Please stop sh*tting on the region, we have 3 teams going to OFSAA (2 who will be ranked top 2-3 for sure) and I think all will make a solid run.

Re: York Region Results
well said!
A few years ago during this type of discussion, I pointed out the number of schools in York compared to Toronto. Of course, there are going to more "high quality" programs in Toronto. If my memory serves me correct, there are 5 times as many high schools in Toronto. This year, York has two elite programs which would mean that Toronto would be expected to have 8 - 10. That sounds about right to me.
Good luck to all at OFSAA and thanks to all of the coaches who work so hard to provide opportunities for the students.
