This season’s starting five for boys basketball is an international affair with players from India, Serbia, the Cayman Islands and, of course, Toronto
Players were chosen based on performances this season for their school teams. Selections were done following consultations with high school, college and university coaches as well as game officials and fans.

How in the world does Kevin Pangos not make the starting five? He was by far the easiest player to put on this team and for some reason, voters found a way to not vote him on. I would also include Daniel Mullings to a lesser extent.
This is one reason why it is very difficult to take the Toronto Star All Stars and rankings seriously. One of the biggest oversights ever. Somebody please convince me why Pangos didn't make it?
Nastic is tall but I have seen him get shut down by players almost a foot shorter than him by just being aggressive with him. He will struggle in D1, especially if he doesn't put on some serious bulk.
Even though Sassa scored over 50 points in a game twice, he did it against Tier 2 competition. He should not be on the South all stars especially because of this. He also did not play any solid teams in tournaments or exhibition games. No Tier 2 player should be eligible for an all star berth with guys who play Tier 1.

Player of the year should be either Pangos or Julian Clarke.

Why shouldnt they be eligible? It is not the players fault they play in Tier 2 by any means.

The level of competition is very inferior and it takes away a spot from a player who has played against the best in the region. The South includes teams like Jarvis, Eastern Commerce and Oakwood in Tier 1 and Sassa never played against any of those teams. If he did and put up good numbers then I would support his inclusion but since he plays against much, much weaker schools, it proves very little.

The only reason why Pangos didn't make regional all-stars MIGHT be because he is grade 11. All those players look like they are grade 12 students or 12R. I guess they thought Pangos will get his turn next year. Doesn't make sense to me because i also believe he should be top 5. He dominated Ontario basketball at 16 years old.

That may be the case in this peticular situation but to say that every Tier 2 player should not even considered is a bit much.

Those r some valid points realist, tier 2 is a joke compared to tier 1 and it proves nothing if you put up high scoring numbers in teir 2 because the competition is horrible, which is why i dont understand how the dude even gets mentioned as an all star in the same group as tier 1 players. Waste of an all star spot.

They were chose by the following criteria

The criteria was simple: players chosen had to be in their graduating year, having made an impact on the success of their team, were solid school role models and performed just as well in the classroom as they did on the hardcourt.
