    Findlay's Cory Joseph

    Season Highlights

Findlay's Cory Joseph was named a McDonald's All-American. The senior guard had helped lead Findlay to a 27-2 record this season. As a junior, Joseph led Findlay to a consensus #1 ranking after an undefeated 33-0 season that culminated with winning the inaugural National High School Invitational.

Cory is the programs all-time leader in points, assists, steals, minutes, 3-pointers, and is second in rebounding. As the Pilot's starting point guard, the team is 65-2.

Joseph, who plays for the Nationally Ranked AAU Porgram, Grassroots Canada Elite under Ro Russell, has also been named a Jordan Brand All-American and Hoop Summit all World.

This season Joseph averages 18.0 points per game, 6.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2.4 steals while shooting 53.1% from the field, 49.1% from 3, and 78% from FT’s.

    Joseph Season Highlights:

MVP of Tournament of Champions (Peoria, IL)

MVP at Marshall County Hoopfest (KY)

Most Outstanding Player at Big Christmas Showcase (Las Vegas, NV)

All-Tournament team at City of Palms (FL)

MVP of Hampton Inn Invitational (NV)

MVP of Hoophall Classic at Hall of Fame (Springfield, MA)

Most Outstanding Player at Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (Montverde, FL)

MVP of both games at Primetime Shootout (NJ)

MVP of The ESPN National High School Invitational Championships

NBAdraft.net Mickey D's scouting on Cory and Tristan

Tristan Thompson 6-9 235 PF Findlay Prep (NV) Texas – 17 min, 8 pts, 4-7 fg, 5 reb, 3 to

Tristan ThompsonThompson gets hype as a future lottery pick, but still has a ways to go. He's an explosive athlete with great agility, but needs to figure out a position (PF) for the next level. His game is still too herky jerky and he gets caught thinking too much with the ball in his hands instead of having any go-to low post moves. Thompson should drop the obsession with facing the basket and being a 3/4 and bulk up and become a pure power forward and concentrate on developing a legitimate post game. His lack of strength was apparent even when he wasn’t going up against "Sully". Got his pocket picked late in the game by Sullinger as he tried to face him up and cross him over.

    Cory Joseph 6-3 180 PG Findlay Prep (NV) Texas – 14 min, 2 pts, 1-6 fg, 2 ast, 2 stl, 2 to.

One of the best shooters in the class. Won the 3 point shooting contest, but wasn't able to have the same success in the game. Hit a nice pull up jumper early but then went ice cold finishing with just 2 points on 1-6 shooting. He would get a chance to redeem himself as his high school team (along with Tristan Thompson) Findlay Prep went on to win the National HS Championship the following weekend. Made a nice play on the break getting the ball to Richmond for an easy dunk. Despite being cold from the perimeter displays excellent form on his shot.

I wouldn't take much stock, if any at all, from the comments re: the McDonald's All American game. That's one game and it's a freaking all star game - lot more "I" than "we" in that game... and Cory is a "we" kind of player.

As for Tristan - I think they're bang on about the need to specifiy his game at the PF position. Defining your position is how you make and stick in the NBA... very few tweeners last at the highest level.
