Let's try and use this thread to keep people up to date with the results.

So far I know Eastern won its first game 67-32 I believe.

I also believe that Waterloo won.
Upset of the day Ursuline 39 - D'Youville 31
When looking at the scores, i noticed that Deanna Kerkhof played for Ursuline. From what I remember Deanna is an amazing player who does not get alot of recognition because she is still young ( either gr 10 or 11). She can shoot the 3 pointer and penatrate to the hoop in the most creative way. I'm not surprised that her team won the game because i don't think that there is anyone on D'Youville's team who can handle here because she is to tall for a gaurd to play her and to quick for a post to play her. Hopefully, D'Youville takes this game as a leasson well learned and gives it their all in their upcomming game. Good luck to everyone in their second round of games!!!

Deanna's great offensive game aside, I am shocked that D'youville was held to only 31 points. Is (unranked) Ursuline a real threat to get a medal or did D'youville just play poorly?

The D'youville vs. Westdale match should prove to be very interesting.

Westdale 54 D'youville 43

D'youville and Mt. Carmel both "two and out" for ROPSSAA.

Disappointing championship for D'youville who had such an outstanding season - undefeated until the Centennial tourney and went into the provincials looking to at least win a medal. Westdale and Moore both look to get to the finals as the Hamilton schools look to continue their dominance at OFSAA.

AAAA
Pope lost to Sarnia Northern 50-44 and then to Waterloo 59-43. Tough first day especially having to play the number 2 and 5 seed.
Etobicoke lost to Notre Dame (Ajax) 44-37 and then to St Thomas More 60-34. Etobicoke was outscored 17-0 in the first quarter by St Thomas More. Very tough day.
Eastern Commerce won both defeating Sacred Heart 67-32 and Mt Carmel 64-36. Sounds like they look ready and focused.
Notre Dame (Ajax) won both games beating Etobicoke 44-37 and pounding St Joan of Arc 70-28
Aurora lost both games 53-40 to Waterloo and 58-36 to Sarnia Northern. They got the same double death games as Pope with the number 2 and 5 teams as their first two games.
As said before, Mt Carmel and surprisingly D'Youville lost both.

Ursuline looks to be the sleeper upset special team

again - sorry to say it but that d'youville team who so many thought would have a promising tournament chokes again at the big show. having a great record doesn't mean a lot until you look at who they've played and other than eastern - they didn't play a lot of tough games. on paper - d'youville is a much better, bigger, athletic team than westdale who lost 8 kids from last year's silver medal team. d'youville will need to play in tougher games throughout the year to prepare themselves for ofsaa.

eastern on the other hand looks very strong and their ofsaa experience will definitely help them medal again this year.

On paper they are better than Westdale? Come on, there top three are not as good as Westdale's top three. After D'Youville's top three, there is not much. Westdale's next 4 are pretty good. Also, you are correct about their record. Play in some of the tough tournaments if you really want to make your team better

Wheeler is off to Virginia and is clearly better than anyone on D'Youville. In fact, in my opinion, Wheeler is in the top three in all of high school basketball in this province. Where are Bartley and Murray going?
Anyway, this is not about bashing kids. D;Youville has some talent no doubt, I just don't think you can say that on paper, they were stronger than Westdale

"Baseline" help me to understand how you determine that Westdale's Top three are better than D'Youville's top three? Secondly, I know D'Youville's program and the players (as talented as they are) do not have control over what tournaments their coaches place them in. I thought we had already went over all this GTA vs. Out-of-Town teams bashing thing. OFFSA begins and the comments resurface. Just keep in mind that the players also read these forums. Only a few more days of OFFSA, then Junior OBA's officially begin. Let's let the competition on the hardcourt do all the talking.

I was refering to Basline's comments about Bartley, Murray and Gardner from D'Youville. He claims his comments are not about bashing kids, but that is exactly what he's doing when he starts to make comparisons without actually knowing the players he talking about. No one is discounting how good "Wheeler" is or isn't. This is my point.

Hey Coach, my comments were in response to Hoopsdreaming statement that "on paper DY was better than Westdale" that's all. My comparison was about the top three kids, in my opinion, DY is not better than Westdale on paper. What is wrong with that? There is nothing wrong with Hoopsdreaming making a statement like that either. It is only an opinion. I just don't happen to share it is all. Don't know the players? I think not. Did you see the game? Enough said.

Eastern Commerce is in the championship game against St Thomas More in the AAAA
West Toronto is in the A Consolation Final
D'Youville and Pope will battle for the AAAA Consolation

Overall, a great representation by our girls no matter what happens today.

Amherst 56 Ascension 37

Some bad luck as Ascension star Christine suffered a shoulder/collarbone injury against St. Basil yesterday. Christine was taken to hospital, and thankfully, there is no structural damage. Coach told me that she tried to play today but had a very difficult time. Don't know if she will try to play in the bronze medal match against Glendale. She will be OK though.

Good luck to all the GTA teams!
