Oh... and Kyle's body language was an issue for me too. He didn't have a good game and the entire TV audience saw it through his deportment.

Re: Raptor Talk 2012-13 The New Broom
First Luol Deng clearly pushes off on Landry Fields (no call/basket good) and then Amir Johnson is fouled clearly in the act of shooting (non-shooting foul Raps ball on the side). NBA should not decide the outcome of a basketball game.
In today's NBA the upper echelon always gets the call the bottom feeders get the shaft!

I think Magloire deserves some credit for the improvement in the post work of Acy, Davis and Johnson. These guys have really added to their set of moves this year.
Kudos to Alan Anderson for standing up to Dwight Howard, who is six inches taller and 50 pounds heavier. A turning point in the game.

I did not realize Magloire was working with the bigs. Good on him if that's the case. Enjoyable getting a win over the sorry Lakers.
We're halfway home and struggling 15 and 26 ain't exactly pretty. Injuries and tough losses are all part of life in the NBA. It is what it is!

Re: Raptor Talk 2012-13 The New Broom
Should be interesting... heard yesterday on the fan that Bargs is about a week away from returning to the lineup.
Wonder what Casey does with his minutes, if he starts, and how he responds if or when Bargs starts to "ball stop".
Wonder if Bargs has learned anything about himself and the need to change his game.
Love the way these guys play - Davis has impressed me... Amir is Amir (giving it all the time)... Calderon is a great leader... Landry and Anderson have embraced their defined roles... Ross has crazy potential... Demar still a little soft but love his improvements.AND = Lowry appears to be on the trading block... I like the character of this team and the way they didn't fold when all he11 went loose in the first 20 games.
Oh ya... and JV - can't wait to see him back.

Re: Raptor Talk 2012-13 The New Broom
Great to hear such positive comments!
If Bargnani accepts a role (coming off the bench) he can help the cause. I agree about Davis. Casey just can't chain him to the bench in crunchtime! Likewise for T-Ross and JV when he's healthy.
I was a big Casey supporter but I'm beginning to wonder about his substitution patterns.

Re: Raptor Talk 2012-13 The New Broom
I agree with Petro's earlier post -- this team, or more specifically a group of eight or nine guys, has played with a lot of cohesion, discipline and effort over the past month and a half. You have to admire their work. Look at the improvement in Ed Davis, Quincy Acy, Landry Fields, Terrence Ross, and even Amir Johnson. Alan Anderson has become a veteran leader off the bench. And, with the exception of three or four miserable games, look at the improved defence.
That said they are probably not of playoff calibre, barring a minor miracle. They haven't had much success against the better teams in the NBA. But they are moving in the right direction. Now, who fits and who doesn't with that new direction?
A number of playoff contending teams have needs around the league and the Raptors would appear well positioned to make a trade, with an excess of swingmen and three point guards.
Not sure where Bargs fits. I think we have enough history on his play to suggest that that for the benefit of both parties involved, the organization should find him a new place to play. If he starts, and the team tanks, with Davis and Acy on the bench, the fans will be irate. Coach Casey could have a mess on his hands if he handles this the wrong way.
No idea what is up with Lowry. He could be a potent energy source off the bench and a second unit scorer. But something isn't working. He doesn't look to be into it. Or maybe he has a nagging injury, such as that ankle.
That first rounder spent on him is gone now and they need to get one back for one of their veteran assets.

Lowry is yet another failed acquisition. That's why I say BC has to go.
For a couple of years, I think I've been more than patient, and even defensive for BC on this board... but enough is enough... he has failed and he needs to go... at least as GM!
Stefanski is completely qualified to take over... and is more removed from the cloud that hangs over this team and thus can make a clearer decision on future transactions.

Re: Raptor Talk 2012-13 The New Broom
Jose Calderon and Ed Davis for Rudy Gay.
Mixed feelings about how the pieces fit with this trade. But on a team with 30 losses I guess you have to try something. At least we now have a Top 10 - 15 NBA talent in Rudy Gay.
But with no more Jose in town to be the glue for this team, I really hope Lowry is ready to run the show.

We are way overstocked at wing. Presuming Ross and Gay are here for a bit who goes DeRozan or Anderson? My guess is Anderson.
Can he be packaged with Bargnani to get a good piece or pieces? Both Anderson and Bargnani have value for a contender imo.

Re: Raptor Talk 2012-13 The New Broom
A trade worth making. Gay is probably the best player they have had since Vince Carter. Team is thin up front now. More deals seem likely. Good luck to Ed and Jose

Re: Raptor Talk 2012-13 The New Broom
WoW... I don't know about you guys... but man Gay is good.
He makes things look pretty easy and effortless. Silky smooth.
I knew he was good... but when you see him once a year and he's on the other team, you don't take as much notice.
He truly makes this team better... and he will earn calls with the refs which will help Demar earn calls as well.
It's almost foolish to think they could make a run and get back in the hunt for the 8th spot... but you never know with how things are going in the east this year!!! And if Bargs comes back and is able to add another dimension/threat without being a ball stopper on offense - YOU NEVER KNOW!

Agreed and we need JV to get back to where he was as well!
By the way speaking of the rookie what a cheap cheap move by Caron Butler absolutely infuriating! We owe that a**hole one for sure!!

Tweeted this this morning:
How does Tyler Hansbrough suplex JV in plain sight and only Indy coach Vogel makes a call? NBA refs are terrible and getting worse!
Raps showed some balls in this one! JV Amir and yes even Andrea!
Much talk about Bargnani to Bulls for Boozer and his fat contract. I would not go there!

Re: Raptor Talk 2012-13 The New Broom
I just watched a replay on NBA.com. An official was standing five feet away when Jonas was slammed and looking directly at the play. No call!
http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2013/2/8/3969748/hansbrough-injures-throws-valanciunas-video
That is ridiculous something has to be done about the quality of refereeing in the NBA. These are not block-charge calls these are blatant fouls that are just not called.

Re: Raptor Talk 2012-13 The New Broom
THat was pretty respectable and professional of Vogel to pull him.
Yes what an exciting win... to beat Indiana in Indiana and playing Indiana style of basketball.
No way would I trade Bargs for Boozer... if Bargs is good coming off the bench then keep him because he is a weapon for the second unit.

Re: Raptor Talk 2012-13 The New Broom
wow... what another great win against a tough team on the road.
I love the way they take a punch and give it right back.
This team is building something special and love the old school toughness which is playoff style basketball.
