Coach Miles is correct that the top 2 teams in the poll should be invited or 2 of the 4 semi-finalists.

Campion is not begging to be involved, and Coach Miles' comments do not reflect that. It sounds like PrimeTime is a bitter Sandalwood fan. Both teams are in the Brampton Centennial tournament so maybe they will play eachother in the final.

Coach Miles is the only Peel Junior coach to provide any public feedback on this issue and immature comments from people like PrimeTime only discourage further input from other coaches.

Why not have the teams that finish first in their division at the end of the regular season represent Peel? Looking at the standings that would be D'Youville and St. Joe's.

Peel is extremly compettive this year. Campion, Ascension, d'Youville and Sandalwood and 4 teams from the North that i believe can beat eachother on any given day. On the other hand, Joes and Goetz are also strong. Having more then 2 peel teams would'nt be too bad as there all strong as one another.

This will be extremly interesting to see which Peel squads will get in.

Thanks Coach Pahis for the support. Campion is looking forward to your well-run Brampton Centennial Tourney.

Keeps, your idea could work, but they coaches on the Coaches Poll, will look at the strength of schedule of St. Joes this season against the best competition in the GTA.

ie. Have they played enough ranked teams to deserve a spot? They may well be stronger than some of the rank teams, but they have to play them to prove it.

^ Fair enough but coaches polls are subjective and a team like St. Joe's might not enter tournaments. I have heard that Joan of Arc is strong in the south as well. The only perfect system would be to have the two finalists playing in the tournament. Since that cannot happen I would argue if you win the South or the North you deserve a shot at the tournament. Give wildcards to the second place team in each division.

Kudos to Coach Clement and everyone involved in bringing some exposure to junior basketball.

I personally hope Carr A can play in this tournament, yes they are being punished by the TDCAA league right now but really think about it with out without Josh Carr A would still be a top 5-10 ranked team. I even feel the tier 2 playoffs is a waste of time for carr as it will be a easy slap over most teams in tier 2, they should just skip the tier 2 playoffs and come play in the gta tournament that would be fair, the boys are much more deserving of a tier 1 championship

    y st. joes.
it should be DY and goetz because their were inthe finals last year.
they deserve to be in this one cause they both made it to the finals last year and since there is no new champion then its them.

That wouldn't make any sense becuase that is last year and plus ive seen the scores for peel and st. joes beat goetz by 12 i believe plus i have seen most of peel play and IMO it should be DY and st. joes.

My view is all of the Peel teams can go but DY should stay home asked your self what is more important going to a tournament that dont really have anything for you or winning Peel juniors.

If you are a Peel coach and made it through the Peel semi-finals Would you go to this tournament risking injuries or would you rather have the Juniors trophy and bragging rights.

Last year DY bantam team went undefeated only to lose in the finals to Fletcher.Dy have nothing to show for that season what a waste of time.
Right now you have an injured point guard would you risk Your starting 5 going down, because your injured point guard will not be back.

DY is the strongest in Peel right now what would you have to show for it.
The question need to be asked is would Coach Clement or any of the other coaches who's season would be completed take part in this tournament before their finals.

I agree this is a great tournament to attend but only if your season is completed.Just my views.

You keep saying D'Y is the best junior team, then how come they lost to Campion a couple of weeks ago? I was at game and trust me, it wasn't really that close. Campion controlled the entire game and D'Y couldn't get through their zone defense. D'Y seniors were a different story, but D'Y juniors weren't impressive at all.

yeh, i agree with jt and i think that they should take the top two best records in peel or the top team in each division and i think its going to be between goetz , DY and st. joes, also i think st joes should be ranked. they have not been in many tournaments (thats what ive heard) but i have seen them play as well as goetz and DY and if those two teas are ranked i think st joes should also be ranked.

    These are your words
    Campion vs. D'Youville
" I am surprised D'youville lost, they got a pretty big team for junior they should be using it to their advantage" So to say you weren't impress is a joke. You right i should not say they are the best in Peel, so who is?

On a side note you posted on jan 10th "PEEL Region, be afraid, be VERY afraid
I would be very afraid right now if I was in Peel and I have to face Campion seniors.
    2 days later what happen?

Campion 50 d'Youville 41 you weren't impress with Dy juniors

d'Youville 71 campion 45 i guess you were impress with the Campion seniors.

The Peel finalists are not going to agree to play in this tournament only a couple of days before the league championship. It is not nearly as important, no matter how it is being sold on the board.

That may be so. We will seek the best Peel teams available in that case.

We have done everything in our power to include Peel in this tournament.

At no point have I been "selling" this tournament as more important than any league championship. It is what it is!

Coach Bob, that was not a comment directed towards you so much as towards those who think that the Peel finalists will bend over backwards to slip this into their schedule between the semis and the finals.

However, I do take issue with "everything in our power". That would have included initially setting the tournament at a time that was inclusive of all. Instead the decision was made to set it earlier and then hope that the deepest league in the GTA would somehow contort a schedule that they have used for well over a decade to finish early. Why was your hand forced to schedule it at the time it will be played? You have mentioned OFSAA but I would question putting the needs of less than a half dozen players who will sit at the end of the bench for a tournament that is not for their age group ahead of two full rosters of players.

But it is what it is: An incomplete GTA championship. That's fine; I don't think the Peel champions or finalists will lose any sleep over it and neither will those in the tournament. I wish you a smooth and successful tournament.

Actually its from past experience. Back in the days of the of the old Metro tournament it was sometimes scheduled two to three weeks after league playoffs.

This created a situation where teams had a long layoff and were not at the top of the game. It also created scheduling problems and other coaches track and other sports were put out.

Also rep programs who wait until after the high school season must continue to wait. I am a community person and have been with SBA since its inception and realize how frustrating this would be for them.

Basketball occupies a huge chunk of the sports calendar as it is. I just cannot see going after OFSSAA and March Break.

I did contact the ROPSSA executive early on in the process and Coach Pahis championed our cause from within.

I will seek the best available representatives from each region including Peel. Failing that, I will seek the best teams possible from any region.

Did you watch the game Mr. Know Nothing. Campion dominated the game from start to finish and I am a big peel fan (D'Y as well). Campion was up by 15 most of the game until their big guy cut his chin, taking a charge. Campion won the game quite convincingly I might add but D'Y once full strength will be very difficult to beat. Campion showed that they can play with anybody. They top four teams in Peel North can beat each other up. Mr. Know Nothing it sounds like you are strictly a D'Y fan, fine, but do not give false details of a good basketball to watch.
