Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Loretto College C.S.S., 151 Rosemont Avenue, Toronto (just south of St. Clair West and Dufferin)
Saturday, May 21, 2011
2:00pm - 5:00pm (Registration at 1:40pm)
Forest Hill C.I., 730 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto (just east of Eglinton West and Bathurst)
Players are only required to attend one tryout, but are encouraged to attend both if possible, and are asked to wear a reversible jersey, or a WHITE or DARK T-shirt if unavailable.
There is a $25 fee for the tryout, which includes registration and a Nike Elite Development t-shirt (only ONE tryout fee is payable, even if players wish to attend both tryouts). Players can register online at http://www.basketball.on.ca/site/index.cfm?DSP=Chapter&ID=18&ACT=Display&Event_ID=2013, or in person at the registration table on the night of the tryout.
The Central East Region includes Toronto, North York, Etobicoke, Markham, Aurora, and Newmarket. Only players who reside in these regions can tryout or be part of the Central East MDP team. Players outside of these regions should consult the OBA website for their region's try out dates.
MDP is the Midget Development Program, the U15 division of the OBA’s Elite Development Program (i.e. for players born in 1996/1997). It is designed to help elite athletes develop in preparation for the next level of competition, including provincial and national team programs. Following the two initial tryouts, a number of athletes will be selected and invited to a final tryout, where 15 athletes will be selected to represent Central East on the team. All 15 of these athletes will then train together from May through to July (30-40 hours). At some point during training, 3 of the 15 athletes will be identified as alternates to the Roster. The program culminates with MDP Camp, August 13-16, where all the regional MDP teams come together at Humber College and where the athletes will receive exposure to elite drills and team concepts from MDP coaches, guest coaches, and keynote speakers. The total cost for MDP is $450, which includes food and accommodations at Camp, a Nike OBA reversible jersey, and Nike OBA shorts.
