Re: Best Of York
everything you are hearing is rumours, coach bos and forbes have a strong relationship dating back to 2003. forbes did not quit playing rep and basketball, he moved up an age group was coached by mr. mcalpine and not coach bos. markham will have everyone back but:
Adam Folker
Adam Lynch
Jamie Gardiner
Rueben George
Chris Kistenlogu
They will be decent this year, noone knows what the season holds so we will just have to wait and see.

Re: Best Of York
everyone is saying all these other teams like markham , sacred heart etc the fact is Vaughan S.S is the defending champions and at the end of the day they're still the team to beat (hands down) iv'e been hearing about some transfers they've recieved along with the upcoming grade 11's from last years jr team. and if this all falls together for them they might be looking at another championship this year

Re: Best Of York
I think so too.
They have a starting 5, but no depth.
Rumour is Kameron La Touche is suppose to attending a Prep. School in New York.
That is going tobe a big loss for them if it's true. On the contrary, Anthony Pouching, Adrian Von Rossum and Tremayne Mckay make a very talented athletic team. They will still be hard to compete with.
Nobody is talking about them right now, they are going to sneak up on everyone. They are a top team on paper, but they haven't proven themselves so I want to see them play before I list them as a top team.

Re: Best Of York
k whod do you think brother andrei can compete with St. Thearesa, Milken Mills, Sacred heart, Vaughan whihc i still think people are writing off but i fail to understand why because they went undeafeted last season in york region the swept almost every team without difficulty and i barely see them in anyones top 5 or 3 list, they lost two players but they gained another 3 solid players from that plus some transfers that i heard went through

Re: Best Of York
The top teams will be Markham, Vaughan, Sacred, possibly St. T's....BA, Thornhill and whomever will be trash that like they are every year.. I remember when Thornhill got their team back like three years ago guys were on here saying that they were going to win the YRAA.. I agree with others when saying that Vaughan is still the team to beat, until proven otherwise, and other teams with good programs (the other teams mentioned) will be able to compete, and once we get started we can change those rankings.

Re: Best Of York
STL, isn't top 2, who do they really have?
If anything, Markham is better then them.
Markham - Sebastian Clarke, Tevin Goodridge, Brandon Bos, Ethan Meltz, Mike Forbes.

Re: Best Of York
This is my overview of YRAA basketball this year.
Top three teams are as follows:
1. Vaughan
2. STL
3. Markham
The reasoning is based on several factors which I have observed and learned during the pre-season thus far.
Vaughan achieved a double crown last year, winning both junior and senior.. I do not recall last time that has happenned in YRAA basketball,
although both of the Wiggins brothers are gone, the solid coaching and core is still there.
Vaughan has played some top notch teams in the GTA this year very close and have already beat, in my opinion a top 5 team in the GTA (West Hill).
Josh Collins is the leader and a very smart player who can lead this team to OFSAA run this year.
........................................................................................................................
STL, have dearly dissapointed me over the past few years...
The depth has been there for the past 2-3 years. In the 08-09 season Nana and Shaq have to step up offensively and through leadership lead the team to success.
STL has played some top teams this year as well, although they have not won, the signs of potential have been there (i.e strong team effort vs. MT).
I question this teams hunger as well as their discipline, having a player like their big man from a few years back would have been very beneficial this year... however, this year with all their key guys in 5th year, they have the greatest chance to upset Vaughan and get that YRAA championship.
Markham is very well coached and also has a lot of depth.. mainly the players mentioned in the above post.
They are behind STL for the fact that last year when the two teams faced off they overall record was: 1-1. However this year without Adam Folker, I do not see Markham beating STL. Adam was a special player, and without that type of talent this year.. it will be extremely hard for them to beat Vaughan and STL.
What separates Vaughan STL and Markham from the rest of the pact is depth. All three teams have great depth and players at their repsective positions that have experience and most importantly confidence... and that is why they rank 1-3 in YRAA in this years pre-season.
Overall my top 5 teams in YRAA this year are as follows:
1. Vaughan
2. STL
3. Markham
4. Milliken Mills
5. Sacred Heart
Good luck to all the teams in the up-comming season of 08-09.
