Super 16 Rankings

HooptownGTA will NOT be releasing a Pre-Season Super 16 this season. With the large migration of players going to Prep schools, it's hard to get a good read on where to rank the teams.

The first release of HooptownGTA's Super 16 will be on Monday November 16th. However, hooptownGTA will be releasing team profiles before then. Halton teams will be included in the Super 16.

HooptownGTA's Super 16 rankings will not be a coaches poll.

It's the same old boring routine: One person posts a list and then everyone plagiarizes it with a slight change to boost their particular team or simply to avoid making it a complete copy of the original one.

90% of it it based purely on guesses about rosters right now. If anyone wants to make a list that is at least partially credible then they need to wait until after some of the early bird tournaments are completed over the next two weekends.

oakville loyola is definitely in the top 16. Will they make top 10 will all depend on their showing at the pinky lewis next weekend when they get the chance to play xavier from sauga and pine ridge from pickering.

I think Jarvis will be in the honourable mention or even in the top 16 (anywhere between 10-16). I have seen them play in the Silverthorn tourny. They have a strong group. They almost beat Brampton Centennial and played a close game against us, Harvey. I heard they were missing their big man because of a trip. And he is suppose to be a starter.
If Jarvis can play even better with their big man then they will surprise a lot of teams.

Playing a close game against George Harvey isn't an indicator that a team is on the bubble of the top-16 since the reports from a number of educated basketball minds at the Silverthorn tournament is that George Harvey is not yet a top-16 calibre team themselves. There is a lot of raw potential but the team isn't there yet, despite the many boosters on the board.

I realize that some posters are going to take this as a call to arms but I am simply trying to provide some perspective.

I understand your point Peel Fan and maybe you are correct. But remember your sources are opinions based also. Some say Harvey can be in top 16 and some doesnt. Personally, I wont rank ourselves yet because we still have a lot of thing to figure out. There are over 10 new faces. We are still in the process of getting to know each other. And obviously time will be needed for that.
Jarvis in my opinion looked strong. I know it is too soon to tell who will rank where. However, this super 16 is based on alot of prediction. That's why I gave my input.

DG-10 why is Emery only one spot under Pope John Paul when Pope beat them by 15 in the Thornlea Invitational?

I still believe that Emery has a much more experienced team at this point than Pope. Although Pope may be more talented, and young, Emery never gives up and have a workman type of team attitude lead by Anthony Ottley.

i think loyola oakville should be alot higher considering their outcome with oakwood. loyola was winning the majority of the game but collapsed late. There was a span in the second quarter where loyola went on a 10-0 run with two dunks and 4 steals.

Pope has 2 kids who competed nationally and another one from the under 16 ontario team,now correct me if im wrong but i think they have a lot more experience then Emery has ever had.

I think Campion might be a little low at 8 but thats juss my personal opinion.

DG-10, rankings have to be based on results, not on future possible results.

From the past weekend, we know the following:

Pope beat Emery
Brampton Centennial beat Xavier
Xavier beat George Harvey
Harvey beat Jarvis

As well, there is a rumour that Goetz beat Holy Trinity in an exhibition by 20, but there is no confirmation.

So just based on results. Pope should be higher then Emery. I think both teams are SURE top 16 and maybe both should be top 10.

Brampton Centennial should be higher then Xavier, Harvey. All 3 teams will be at the bottom of top 16 and HM for the season no higher.

Jarvis played close games against lower top 16 teams, you need to wait and see with them.

Campion should be above Eastern and Pickering.
