This assumes that they were a higher calibre team to begin with. One could just as easily conclude that they were overrated to begin with and their performance at Henry Carr was a more accurate reflection of their potential.

The Humber Tournament will help to determine which scenario is the more accurate one.

I'm glad to see J.Clarke in the top ten with a great performance at the Carr tourney, and a big win over martingrove and great game with MT, i'm looking forward to see what they can do for the season. Only thing i see that may hold them back is the fact that they aren't deep. Great starting lineup but the bench is not looking that promising hopefully they can help their team out a little more in future games.

IMO, there are three tournaments that will help to sort out the rankings: The Holiday Classic, the Rimrocker and the St. Mike's tournament all seem to have a lot of teams that are consistently being ranked in the top 16 or as honourable mention. Considering they all take place after competing fall sports are finished and rosters have had a chance to gel, they will be the three that will hopefully help to sort out the mess of results that cause such massive shifts in everyone's personal top-16 early in the season.

Xavier was not missing two starters. There was one potential starter who was unable to play but the starting five at the tournament had been practicing as a unit leading up to the tournament. No excuses; BCSS deserves full credit for an exciting victory.

Post by rerun Sun Nov 22, 2009 11:20 am

Actually your list is pretty good considering it is a difficult task ranking some of the teams. At the Humber Tournament I heard that Vaughn and Pope John Paul were not playing with their full rosters so it would be interesting to see how they would have fared with their full squads intact. However, I've seen almost every team in the top 16 play and I must say that in my opinion Martingrove is ranked way to high. Without Justin, they are not the same team at all and are easily suspectible to anyone of those teams that you ranked 10-16. Also, Campion at number is way to high at 3. They are a small team for starters...they have a plenty of players on the bench but only play about 1 or 2 of them. They are about six deep and really have one big guy in Tychon. Teams such as Oakwood and Mother Teresa would give them plenty of trouble with their size and pressure defence. Loyola (Oakville) and Eastern as well with transition game. Campion should be around number 8 based upon the tournament win, however in reality they are outside the top ten as well....unless they are missing two or three players as well.

You cant really say Campion, Vaughn or Pope were all missing players and they should be higher and then say Martingrove was missing Justin and they should be lower.. that makes no sence Justin is a better player then any of the players missing on all those teams.. Martingrove should be placed higher then Vaughn after Humber only because St. Mikes defeated Vaughn and Martingrove beating St. Mikes.. Also I agree with you though rerun when you say Campion is ranked to high.. They won the Humber tournament but no team in the previous Top 16 that tart11 had placed which was ranked 1-5 was in this tournament except for Vaughn who they beat by 4 and Pope who I think shouldnt have been ranked top 5 in your top 16.. I see Campion losing to Carr, Pickering, MT and Loyola Oakville by 5-10+ points easy..

How long is Justin going to be out? I heard that he broke or dislocated his elbow...Is that true? Is there any truth to that? If it is, then he is pretty much out for the season. It has to heal first...and then rehab is long and difficult as well. More than likely they'll have to play without him for the season if the rumours are correct. If he does not play at all, then Martingrove is not the same team. Other teams might be missing a guy due to sickness, family business..whatever...all that is temporary. These teams will get their players back......Is it a certainty that Justin will be back on the floor for Martingrove?

No clue whether he is to return .. but hopefully he does otherwise Martingrove just will not live up to all the hype they have been giving ... HUGE dissapointment if he is out for the whole season... can anyone from Martingrove or any friends of Justin Bakutkeka back that up Reruns comments have made me very curious?

You guys are givin Justin way 2 much attention, hes a good player but hes not amazing...Realtalksz Justin is not better than CJ from Vaughan n he wasnt playin in da tourney so jus chill...Every1 keeps boosting Pope off of a couple players that they have but they're not sayin much on the court so it makes no sense for you guys 2 be acting like their a top 5 team cuz der not.

okay "CP3" let me just make you feel dumb right now... FIRST of all ... CJ did play in the tournament got injured because of an ankle sprain or what ever it was.. Justin didnt even dress.. Everyone including coaches put Martingrove Top 5 with Justin Bakuteka but without him there only another top 16 team.. Secondly Did St. Mikes beat Vaughn yes they did.. and like come on an honourable mention beating Vaughn who had you probably think are a top 5 team? please respond to this very interested to see what you are going to say.. and dont say im just a Martingrove booster.. that doesn't mean ... because

    Realtalksz im right ..

But he did play the first game and he did play against Campion were they lost.. and he didnt play against St. Mikes and they LOST... "lol" to that buddy.. and im pretty sure if Martingrove had Justin they would have beat Campion by atleast 10 .. and also CJ is a point guard and Justin is a SG/SF ..
