Campion is returning everyone. I personally think Campion and Vaughan are at the same level. Vaughan beat Eastern in an exhibition game. Pickering lost badly to MT and from what I hear they have dropped off a bit.

Again, my opinion, until I am proven wrong on the court. We'll know after the Carr tournament.

The lost of elite players due to prep school commitments sort of puts a stagnant pause on terms of ranking teams in their respective ranks, but as tourneys soon arrive, I will find it very interesting to see the reaction of fellow forum members when the come across my pre-season top 16. True. I can't see how Martin Grove went from a comfortable 6th or 5th spot to a 1st place team without proving anything yet. A lot of teams on the Super 16 Rankings have worked hard to maintain their spots, and some work hard but still get no credit. I just want to know how you put Martingrove C.I over the other top 5 teams that SHOULD be there.

Mother Teresa & Pope that low? Especially MT? Thats a real bad super-16 and clearly biased. Be realistic. MT and Eastern are still the teams to beat. They were finalists in last years OFSAA. They have both lost players but still have RETURNING players with EXPERIENCE and GREAT coaching. Martingrove is good this year, but have yet to prove themselves. So far Carr and MT are undefeated in the Earlybird. We'll see who's the best out of Martingrove, Mother Teresa, Carr and Pickering after the Earlybird. Until then, enough said and stop ranking teams. Especially teams that are obviously in the top 5.

Mother Teresa's lineup will receive a boost when high-flying Ancil Martin returns to the court around Christmas.

He brings boards, size, scoring, leadership and of course the energy boost supplied by those thunderous dunks of his.

I'm only commenting on the Peel teams and I must say I'm shocked you are willing to rank BCSS so high after one mid-level tournament. I don't think anyone questions Campion as the top team in Peel going into the season but what leads you to rank BCSS ahead of D'Youville, Goetz, and Carmel? While I can see them being ranked ahead of Xavier because they beat them by 2 at Silverthorn, how can they be 7-11 spots ahead when they only beat them by 2 in a close battle that even the BCSS coach said should have gone to OT and Xavier was missing 2 starters? I would think one or two spots at the most should separate them so either BCSS is ranked way too high or Xavier is ranked way too low. After Xavier's advance to the Pinky Lewis quarter-finals and a close loss to what many believe is a top-10 team in the GTA this year (Oakville Loyola), I suspect it's mostly the latter.

Peel will most likely consist of Campion...a gap...and then a 5-6 team battle for the second OFSAA spot.

BTW, I thought BCSS were the Bucks, not the Colts. Does the basketball tam have a different name from the rest of the school teams?

Peel fan how would you rank Peel? What do you think of my rankings?

Bill Crothers Secondary School goes by BCSS and they are the Colts.

Peel is Campion and then Xavier, Carmel, BCSS, d'Youville and Goetz. The last 5 could be ranked in the top 16 at any time.

Peel Fan I think Xavier, and BCSS have the upper hand with regards to PRE-SEASON rankings because people have seen them play. Once everyone gets going and there are more results then the Super 16 should develop. You sound pretty upset. Rankings are for fun and at the end of the season we'll see how these teams do.

Listing that teams are missing starters is an excuse and disrespectful to the team that wins. It's like saying that Martingrove performed poorly at the Carr tournament because they are missing Justin B., and really they would of won with him, so we should rank MG in the top 5.

How do you know that when the "2 starters" return to Xavier's line-up they won't ruin the chemistry of the team? and Xavier plays worse.

    Only results count.

Why don't we make a Super 16 list and take into consideration all of the kids that went prep. A "what if" super 16. I say Loyola should be a top 10 team with Juwan and Stauskas.

tart, where I have I given any indication that I am upset? I haven't used any derogatory terms or emotional language so you are reading too much into my critique. The only ranking that counts is the one at the end of the season so of course anything else is for fun. However, if a poster asks for feedback then it's fair to offer it as I have,

I also fail to see how I have disrespected any team. As I wrote in my previous post, BCSS (which I will always use to mean Brampton Centennial since they have used the term since 1967) deserves to be ranked higher than Xavier but not 7-11 spaces higher as Coach Wheeler has done.

Your analogy about Loyola doesn't work. There is a big difference between players who are practicing with a team and that will be part of the team's line-up for the season and former players who have left to play for another team. Since rankings are as much about potential as performance, it's fair to take the former into consideration but it makes no sense to include the latter.

BTW, I agree with Googleman. I think Vaughan will be one of the top teams in the GTA this season and for the next couple of seasons. While they are just one of many teams to have been very successful in junior ball over the past few years (on top of a strong performance at the past two AAA OFSAA championships), they don't seem to have been decimated by players leaving for prep school like many other teams.

I agree with you Peel Fan. There are many teams outside of the GTA that can run with anyone. Even in the girls game, some of the best ball is being played outside of the GTA - watch what happens of the upcomming girls Ofssa tourney.

Richview haven't played anything of significance yet so they cannot be ranked solely based on potential. The same goes for Laurier and that is why I believe that Tart doesn't have them on his list .I like Tart's list but I must agree that I do not believe that Martingrove should drop so drastically based on one tournament where they didn't perform up to expectations. I still would have them in the top 10.
It is really early in the season and I have to give number 1 to Henry Carr so far. I give them and Coach Melnik a ton of credit. They were knocked for having a couple of close games on Thursday. They showed everybody that they are still one of the teams to beat by winning the tournament.
Judging by the great performance by Loyola in the Pinky Lewis, I see one of the most competitive seasons in Senior Basketball history. The rankings will change drastically and often week by week. This will be very exciting.
