Good game, every possession was fought for and both teams played a great defensive game.

J Clark looks like they are going to move up based on their win against #1 Henry Carr. The MT tournament is going to cause some changes in the Super 16 rankings as there was some surprises in the first 2 days.

There are lots of reasons to include Loyola in the debate over the top team in Ontario but winning the Silver Fox will not be one of them. It is no longer an elite provincial tournament; now it's more like an unofficial Hamilton-Halton championship with a couple of decent teams from elsewhere and a lot of mediocre outsiders added for good measure. There will always be a small handful of Ontario top-10 teams (Loyola and Oakwood are the only two that come to mind this year...perhaps ACMT and More if we are taking top-20) but most of the remaining line-up is uninspiring.

your right but loyola oakville when fully loaded is a heavy canidate, same with carr. oakwood should not be up there, they have yet to prove they can beat a top team. top 5 for next weeks rankings in my own opinion. comment if you like.
1 Oakwood
2 Henry Carr
3 Loyola
4 Pickering
5 J Clarke Richardson

I thought that if you Beat teams they lower in ranking......so how is it Henry Carr and Pickering would be above J.Clarke Richardson?

I agree with J Clarke moving up to the top 5 based on their big wins against Vaughn, Pickering and Henry Carr!

J. Clarke should be number one. I saw Rick was at the games so I know he will take notice to how strong of a team they are, one of the best defences in the province.

I agree they do play some amazing defence, locking down some key players from the top teams, as to them being number 1 i'm not that sure considering they have yet to beat or play Loyola or Oakwood.

Consider the reverse Loyola and Oakwood and not played J Clarke so why do they deserce a higher rank? Oakwood had their shot last week and lost to Campion, and I understand that J Clarke beat Campion. J Clarke has only one loss on the season to MT, and have beaten Campion,Carr,Martingrove,Pine Ridge,Pickering,Vaughn, and many others. They sound deserving enough of a number 1 spot to me!dunkthat1 wrote:

Being #1 seems to be a short term thing. As teams head into exams, rankings tend to be based upon the whole season. I personally look at the strength of schedule that teams have played. Some teams have played several teams in the top 16 on a consistent basis, while others have not.
In the loss to J Clarke, we played the worst 3 quarters of the season for whatever reason, probably a combination of J Clarke being very good and us playing sub par. But, in less than a quarter we were able to reduce a 25 deficit to 3 points, only to lose by 8.
We have played a very tough schedule and are 30-4 overall, 27-3 vs Ontario teams. There is a lot of basketball still to be played.
Congrats to Oakwood and J Clarke for strong performances this week.

i couldnt agree with you more coach melnik. loyola boosts a 32-3 overall record and a 29-3 record vs ontario teams. they have won a total of 6 tournaments this season. what i ask of you coach melnik is if you will attend the all-catholic championship feb 4-6th in st catharines. there you will most likely meet loyola and this could end the discussion of number 1. so if you are not commited to any other tournies that weekend then you should go, regardless of what happened in the past. ie the nd wellend loss.

I am not sure what you are referring to ie. the Welland ND loss? We go to a tournament in London, Ontario because it is much more cost effective and the competition is as good or better.
With tight budgets, saving close to a thousand dollars is significant.

That is in the past. That has no bearing on FHC attending any tournament. The cost of travel, hotels etc does.
