At Christmas tournaments in the United States, the Pickering Trojans and Father Henry Carr Crusaders will face off with highly ranked teams from Georgia...at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Pickering will play Wheeler High School in the first round (Saturday, December 27th at 1:45 pm), and at the GSK Holiday Invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina, Henry Carr will play Centennial High School (Saturday, December 27th at 4:00 pm).

In a recent game on Wheeler's home court, Centennial squeeked out an 81-77 victory.

    Good luck to both teams!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Pickering played good with Rob they would have won that game also their big man killed them if they stopped him they would have won it as well. This is good news for canadian ball cause wheeler is a powerhouse in Georgia.

I couldn't find any live web cast for the Henry Carr game. The best I could find is this site which will give you updates after each quarter.

    Centennial 64 (Lorenz Brown 23)
Father Henry Carr 40 (Theon Reefer 13)

We were outscored 24-8 in the first quarter. We seemed to be a little shell-shocked by the atmosphere in the packed gymnasium at Broughton High School. Once we settled down, we were able to make mini runs throughout the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters and were only outscored 40-32 the rest of the way.

Lorenzo Brown, a 6-5 guard committed to NC State University, is legitimate. He broke down our man to man defense and forced us to play a 2-3 zone for most of the 2nd half.

We play Monday at 12:40 pm versus the Richland Rebels from Fort Worth, Texas.

Father Henry Carr of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, held Richland (Texas) scoreless for the final 1:45 of its Summit Hospitality 8-team tournament consolation game — and the Crusaders will live to play another game.

The Crusaders (21-3) shut down Richland and will play in the fifth-place game of the Summit tourney at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Carr will face the winner of the other Summit consolation semifinal, Raleigh Enloe.

“This is absolutely huge for us,” Carr coach Paul Melnik said. “It’s great to come to a tournament of this caliber and to be playing on Day 3. That really makes it worthwhile.

“We realize we have one more game, so we’ll celebrate for about five minutes and get ready for tomorrow.”

    Statistics

    Richland 13 18 18 16 – 65
    Father Carr 16 14 24 19 – 73

End of first quarter: Carr 16, Richland 13

    Halftime: Richland 31, Carr 30

End of third quarter: Carr 54, Richland 49

Father Henry Carr 73 (Kadar Marshall 20, Josh Ogden 18)
Richland (Fort Worth, Texas) 65 (Nolan Dennis 31)

This was a great team effort, especially defensively. We really disrupted their offensive flow. They had trouble guarding us off the dribble and resorted to a 1-2-2 zone, which we handled well.

In the last 1:30 we forced them to turn the ball over, and then did a great job of getting good looks, and getting to the foul line.

Next up: Consolation Championship vs Enloe High (Raleigh, NC), 11 am Monday, December 30th

    Enloe (Raleigh, NC) 85
    Father Henry Carr 69

This team was on fire...and we weren't..we made a run later in the game, but it was too little, too late. This was not our best effort.

Having said that, the coaching and ability of the teams at the GSK is top notch.

It was a competitive game but Pickering did not have Gagliardi.

Jonathon Tull was outstanding and Gr. 9 Mikyle McIntosh played big minutes - he was excellent when you consider his youth.

He could play Senior right now.

I'm pretty sure it was Mikail McIntosh. He played junior ball for Pickering a few years ago, but spent the last two years at Ocoee High School near Orlando, FL. He is now back at Pickering and has played in exhibition games.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.
