Father Henry Carr of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, held Richland (Texas) scoreless for the final 1:45 of its Summit Hospitality 8-team tournament consolation game — and the Crusaders will live to play another game.
The Crusaders (21-3) shut down Richland and will play in the fifth-place game of the Summit tourney at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Carr will face the winner of the other Summit consolation semifinal, Raleigh Enloe.
“This is absolutely huge for us,” Carr coach Paul Melnik said. “It’s great to come to a tournament of this caliber and to be playing on Day 3. That really makes it worthwhile.
“We realize we have one more game, so we’ll celebrate for about five minutes and get ready for tomorrow.”
