yeah foreal, that is the problem. some people believe that they shu donly try against the good teams, and when thy beat the good teams or kept it close, they feel they cud be any team and dont try.

I don't think this is a problem at the Jr. level, it's just a fact of life. Take a look at the Pacers this year. They're 8 and 12. They beat Boston and Lakers (the 2 top teams in the league) and then they lose to practically everyone else. Did they "try hard" against Bostron and L.A. but decided not to try the rest of the time? I don't think so.

It doesn't work that way. Everyone tries their hardest all the time. Anyone or any team that says something like "we lost because we didn't try" is just being a poor loser. Everyone loses sometime.

Of course they try but sometimes they are not at the top of their game.

Why is it that one night everything you shoot goes down and another night you can't buy a hoop?

We do not always perform at our optimal level! But it rarely would be because of lack of effort.

I'm not sure where we should be "ranked". ( I do think Richview is a really good team from what I saw at MT...#15 is one of the best lock down defenders I have seen this year.) I would agree we lack consistency in our results but not often in effort. Our game against ND at MT was hampered by not having two starters both of whom were unable to play because of work. Having said that, ND is a very good team and should get credit for a strong game. It will be interesting this Wed. when we travel to their gym for a league game. Should be fun!

    Comment:

Since Oakwood has now beaten Richview and Richview is out if the Carr Tournament losing to Pickering, Where does that put Richview and Dunbarton? oes Oakwood Now take the 10th position?

Its very hard to place Richview, they are not a . team but they just cant seem to really prove them self to earn a spot on the top ten , they show alot of effort and showed us that they can do it but i dont know they only lost to pope by 1, was beating pickering the whole entire game until 4th and only lost to oakwood by 12 with scott not playing the whole game and another starter for now they should be 9,10 or honourable mention

Thanks for the info on the shoot out. I'd love to have Loyola play there, but appearently I can't get any teacher support to come to any games on a weekend. Without a teacher there I can't bring Loyola.

The teachers that are supporting the team (practises and regular season games) spend enough personal time helping out the team, so you can't really expect them to start giving up their weekends just to sit there.

At this point I might have difficulty keeping us in the RimRocker. I might have to enter the boys as the "Warriors basketball club" instead of "Loyola Warriors". This is the only way I can think of getting around the restriction of needing a teacher at every game.

We have not had the opportunity to play Pickering as yet this season.
They have a very good team, as usual.
We would look forward to the challenge, if and when the opportunity presents itself.

St. Thomas More is in Hamilton, not the GTA.

(I would also mention that Xavier beat them by 11 (along with St. Theresa) but that would be boosting. Wink )

Post by HooptownGTA Mon Dec 15, 2008 12:14 pm

In efforts to create a HooptownGTA Top Ten Junior teams list, I have created team profiles on the site for the Junior teams that I feel will be in the Top Ten (and about six honourable mentions). The Team Profiles can be found by going to the main site, selecting Profiles, and then selecting Junior Boys, and then clicking on "2008-2009 Junior Team Profiles"

    1. I need people to fill me in on "important" games that I have missed in the Team Profiles. Please try to be accurate in final score details and what type of game was played (eg. league, exhibition, tournament), and when the game was played.

    2. I need people to inform me of any other teams that you feel should be in the Top Ten (& about six honourable mentions). Please just don't state a team.... please give your reason for why you feel that team should be in the Top Ten or six honourable mentions.

You can either email me or post it in the following thread https://hooptowngtaforums.forumotion.com/junior-bantam-high-school-f6/hooptowngta-top-ten-t1219.htm

    Thanks

Here's Loyola's record so far this year. As you can see, our margin of victory in many of our games is quite substantial. Meanwhile our losses are games that could have gone either way. How do we stack up against the other teams? Is there a forum that lists ALL teams scores (in one place) so that we can see where we stand relative to the other teams, who beat who and by how much, when, etc?

    Loyola 73 Meadowvale 34 (39 pt win)
Loyola 81 Mt. Carmel 61 (20 pt win)
    Loyola 75 Turner 57 (18 pt win)
    Loyola 89 Gonzaga 61 (28 pt win)
    Loyola 81 Chaminade 46 (35 pt win)

Loyola 73 St Theresa 74 (1 pt loss)
    Loyola 54 BCSS 62 (8 pt loss)

Born to Ball why did you rank Pickering 2nd and Vaughan 3rd?? Shouldn't they both tie for second since they both lost to Henry Carr twice?

    This is my ranking

    1. Henry Carr A-Undefeated

    2. Vaughan tied for 2nd -Lost to Henry Carr twice

    2. Pickering tied for 2nd-Lost to Henry Carr twice
